Manchester United set to announce Alejandro Garnacho contract extension

Manchester United teenager Alejandro Garnacho will sign a new deal with the English club in the coming weeks.

According to ESPN,

Manchester United

has reached an agreement with

Alejandro Garnacho

over extending his deal. This report claims that Garnacho will sign a new five-year contract with United. Garnacho’s current contract is set to expire in 2024.

ESPN claims that the new contract will officially be announced when some aspects relating to Garnacho's image rights are resolved.

The 18-year-old Garnacho joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2020. He made his first team debut last April and since then has played in 27 matches for Manchester United and had managed to score three goals.

Real Madrid and Juventus have been monitoring Garnacho’s contract situation in recent months, but United started the negotiations a few months ago and now has reached an agreement with the player.

Garnacho has a Spanish father and an Argentine mother, and has played for both Spain and Argentina at the youth level. He is eligible to play for both countries and was in Argentina’s preliminary squad for the World Cup.

The Glazer family has put Manchester United for sale, but reports suggest that contract talks with players are unaffected by takeover talks.
