Qatari investors to make £5 billion takeover bid for Manchester United

Qatari investors are confident they will win the battle to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family.

According to Bloomberg, Qatari investors are ready to make a £5 billion bid to buy

from the Glazer family. This report claims that a consortium including Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the country’s former prime minister, has decided to enter the bidding war for Manchester United.

Reports suggest that the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is a Man United fan and supports the investors to buy the club.

Sky Sports also reports that investors linked to the Qatari royal family will bid to buy Manchester United. The report claims they are ready to make significant investments in the team, Old Trafford, and the city of Manchester.

Sky claims that investors from the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS group will also bid to buy the club on Friday.

The Glazer family has asked "the Raine Group" investment group based in New York to market the sale, and they have set a deadline for initial bids to be made by 10pm UK time on Friday.

Manchester United’s owners want £5bn to sell the club, which is a worldwide record for a football club. The most-expensive sports team is the Denver Broncos American Football team, which was sold for £3.75bn last year.

The Glazer family completed their controversial takeover of the club in May 2005.
