"La Liga is in our hands", says Barcelona star Jordi Alba

In an interview with Marca, 

admitted that Barcelona has a good chance to win La Liga this season but he also insisted that there is still a long way to go until the end of the season.

“From experience I tell you that there is a lot left in La Liga,”

Jordi Alba said.

“Madrid will push hard until the end, and it will be very difficult. It is a considerable distance, but we cannot relax. It is in our hands to win it.”

After a draw against Espanyol on the last day of 2022, Barcelona has won all of its games in the new year, but Alba said victory against Real Madrid in the Super Cup final was a turning point for them.

“It was a turning point. It was against the direct rival of all Cules and that motivates you even more. It was a very good final, we were superior and we deserved the title. It gave the team confidence, especially for the youngest ones, because it was their first title. For them it was very special. You could see it in their faces.”

Despite losing La Liga to Real Madrid in the last two seasons, the 33-year-old Alba explained Barcelona players believe that they can win any game this season.

“We believe that we can win. We have played good games, others not so much, but in which we got the three points, which is the important thing. Before, if we didn’t play so well, we didn’t get the victory. Now we compete.”

Barcelona will face Villarreal on Sunday and then play Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday.
