"He is not good enough for Chelsea"- Frank Leboeuf slams summer signing Cucurella

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf says Marc Cucurella is not good enough to play for the English club.

from Brighton last summer in a deal worth £62m. Manchester City also was interested in signing him, but they refused to pay Brighton’s asking price, and former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf says the Blues were crazy to pay that much money for the Spanish defender.

Cucurella has started in 16

games this season but has not been able to live up to expectations. He has been used at different positions like left center-back in a back three, left-back in a back four, and left wing-back but has struggled to live up to his price tag and Leboeuf thinks Ben Chilwell should play ahead of him.

"Hopefully Reece James and Ben Chilwell will go back into fitness as soon as possible because we need them,"

Leboeuf told ESPN.

"We don’t want to see Cucurella anymore. With all due respect to a man that I don’t know, the player is not good enough for Chelsea. It’s as simple as that. It’s crazy that they signed him for £60m or £70m, but we can see that he doesn’t belong to this level.”

Chelsea will face West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, and then they play with Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Graham Potter’s side is in ninth place in the table after 21 matches. They are 10 points behind fourth-placed team Newcastle.
