Galtier clarifies the captaincy mishap between Mbappe and Kimpembe
PSG boss Cristophe Galtier has apparently spoken to Kimpembe about his vice-captaincy role.
Following PSG’s 7-0 win over Pays de Cassel in the Coupe de France, PSG head coach Galtier has made it clear that Mbappe, who scored 5 times in the match, is the club’s vice-captain and has been since the summer. However,
Presnel Kimpembe, who held the role last year, has taken to social media, talking about how he was unaware of the change. Galtier informed the press that he has talked to Kimpembe about the issue, clearing the air.
Reportedly, Galtier has made 4 vice-captains, one of them being Kimpembe.
Mbappe, Verratti and Sergio Ramos are the other 3 but since only Mbappe and Ramos played against Pays de Cassle and Mbappe has been at the club for longer, he held the armband that day.
In the absence of club captain Marquinhos, Kimpembe has been the one that has usually taken up the role. Without him in the squad, Verratti is the captain.
PSG are set to face Reims in Ligue 1 on Sunday, where Marquinhos is likely to take up the mantle of the captain once again.
