Milan edging closer to signing Zaniolo from AS Roma

With Tottenham reportedly out of the race, Ac Milan have planned a new round of talks to sign Roma star Zaniolo.

Nicolo Zaniolo’s days at AS Roma seem to be numbered but Giallarossi haven’t yet been able to reach an agreement between any potential suitors. However, it seems that AC Milan are close to getting their man as they plan for a new round of talks with Roma.

Roma starlet Zaniolo wasn’t included in their 2-0 victory over Spezia on Sunday which suggests a potential move is very close.

Zaniolo

’s most serious suitor, Tottenham, recently signed Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal which would mean that a move for Zaniolo is potentially off.

This has left AC Milan in pole position to sign the 23-year-old Zaniolo but they are insisting on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, something which AS Roma wants to steer clear of.

Calciomercato reports that the directors of both clubs met on Wednesday and have moved closer to an agreement which would have AC Milan pay €2m fee for a loan deal until the end of the season. They would then pay Roma €23m, including bonuses to sign Zaniolo permanently.

Zaniolo’s current contract with

AS Roma

expires in Jun 2024 and despite Roma putting a €40m price tag on Zaniolo, they have to act quickly in selling him if they want to receive any profit from the deal.
