Aston Villa confirm the £18m signing of Jhon Duran from Chicago Fire

The Colombian teenage sensation joins the Villains, leaving Chicago Fire behind.

Aston Villa has completed the signing of Chicago Fire’s 19-year-old Colombian striker Jhon Duran for £18 million.

The deal was reported earlier to be done but Villa has now confirmed it. Duran, who only spent a season at MLS with Chicago Fire, will join Aston Villa on a permanent deal to help them move to the top half of the table.

Despite being a teenager,

Duran

is also an international, having represented his country Colombia 3 times with his debut being against Guatemala in later September.

Duran’s transfer to Villa follows a trend of Premier League players poaching MLS talent, with the likes of Gabriel Slonina having already joined Chelsea and someone like Facundo Torres being strongly linked with a move to Arsenal.

"I have all the desire in the world," Duran told Villa's official website. "Lots of desire to work hard, give everything to the team and win. I'm hoping I can play soon.

"I'm a player that plays with a lot of passion, who is dedicated to the team, and a player that really wants to win always.

"I know it's the most important league in the world. It's the best league in the world, and I have all the desire in the world to get on the pitch and score that first goal."

Duran has a chance to get integrated with

Villa

’s squad and tactics before their next match which is against Leicester City on February 4.
