Howe is ‘pleased’ with Newcastle after Magpies break club record with unbeaten streak

Eddie Howe’s run of 15 consecutive unbeaten games breaks record among English manages of the top flight.

Eddie Howe claims that Newcastle are reaching the “high expectations” they have set for themselves after their goalless draw against

Crystal Palace

.

While Howe couldn’t be entirely happy with the result, as his team had 7 shots on the target but failed to score, the draw was a historic one since it was the

Magpies

’ 15th consecutive game without a defeat (W9 D6). Howe now breaks Alan Pardew’s record of 14 unbeaten games among English managers. This is also Newcastle’s longest unbeaten run in their history at the top flight.

When he was asked about whether they dropped two points or gained one, Howe answered:

"I haven't had time to think about it. Is it? I don't know the answer to that.

"I'm really pleased with the team. Really tough place to come, we were ourselves and we had the moments and chances to score, we just didn't take them.

"Maybe not absolutely clear-cut, you have to score moments, but a lot of presentable opportunities, really good positions where we didn't quite get our final ball right.

"It's a frustration for the team, I can sense that. We've got high expectations of ourselves. I felt we dominated for long spells, they defended well."

Howe also seemed happy with Pope keeping a clean sheet and making a crucial save as well as breaking some records, as he said:

"I'm not too sure on these records, but it's nice to hear. Pope, I have to say, as much as we were dominant, made an incredible save and he’s been brilliant since he signed. That was a big moment.

"Every team has days like this, especially when the competition is so high. The most important thing is if we don't win, we don't lose."
