Monchengladbach signs Omlin from Montpellier as Sommer’s replacement

After weeks of negotiations, Sommer finally moved to Bayern on an €8m transfer amid Manuel Neuer's injury. Gladbach moved fast to replace the Swissman by signing Omlin from Montpellier.

After Manuel Neuer was ruled out for the season following fracturing his right leg on a skiing trip,

Bayern

 

finally confirmed the signing of

Yann Sommer

in an €8 million deal from

Borussia Monchengladbach

on a two-and-a-half deal.

Gladbach moved fast to replace the Swissman, who made 272 Bundesliga appearances since joining Gladbach from Basel in 2014. The club confirmed the signing of fellow Switzerland international

Jonas Omlin

from Montpellier, who made 74 appearances for the Ligue 1 club. Omlin signed a deal with the Bundesliga club that runs until July 2025.

"

We believe we have found a very good solution by signing Jonas Omlin,"

Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus told the club's official website upon confirmation of the transfer.

"He is a very reliable goalkeeper who exudes confidence, is strong on his line and is good with the ball at his feet."
