Lyon signs Dejan Lovren from Zenit for a second spell

After helping Croatia to finish third at the 2022 World Cup, Dejan Lovren returns to his former club for a second spell, 10 years after leaving the club to join Southampton.

A cornerstone of Croatia's defensive line in Qatar,

Dejan Lovren

signs a deal with his former club Lyon until 2025. The Croatian made 102 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, helping them win the Coupe de France in 2012.

He then left

Lyon

 

for Southampton before becoming Brendan Rodgers’ marquee defense signing for

Liverpool

. Now after winning back-to-back domestic crowns with Zenit, he returns to Lyon for a second spell.

"It was the club that opened the doors of international football to me, I will never forget it.

"I have many memories here, many links too, especially with President Jean Michel Aulas who has always supported me.

"I left Lyon in 2013 with regrets because I felt I had not shown everything. I want to prove to everyone what a player I really am."
