Newcastle United recalls Martin Dubravka from Manchester United loan

The 33-year-old joined the Red Devils to guard the net for the team. However, he only played two games as both clubs confirmed Newcastle United has terminated the goalkeeper's loan spell and now he will go back to save the net along with Nick Pope.

Since joining

Newcastle United

from Sparta Prague in 2018, the Slovakian made 130 appearances for the Magpies, recording 37 clean sheets in the English top flight. However, after signing Nick Pope from Burnely, the player fell out of Eddie Howe's pecking order as he headed to

Manchester United

on loan last summer.

Martin Dubravka

only made two appearances for the Red Devils, EFL Cup victories over Aston Villa and Burnley. Newcastle United stated on

their official website

:

“Martin Dúbravka has been recalled from his season-long loan spell with Manchester United.

“The Slovakia international goalkeeper joined the Red Devils on a temporary basis in September and made two appearances under Erik ten Hag.

“He will now provide further competition for Nick Pope, who kept his ninth league clean sheet of the season - the most in the Premier League - in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Leeds.
