"Winning EFL Cup can push us to achieve more in the season", says Rashford

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford says he is happy that club football is back so he can forget the painful defeat to France in the World Cup.

Rashford

was part of the England squad that lost 2-1 against France in the World Cup quarter-finals. Manchester United forward scored three goals for England in the 2022 World Cup.

The 25-year-old returned to

Manchester United

training this week and started against

Burnley

in the Carabao cup on Wednesday.

"It was good to come back,”

he said after scoring against Burnley in a 2-0 win.

“It was a tough game and good to get a win to take into the next one. It's more emotions-wise because it was such a disappointing feeling to be knocked out and you have to pick yourself up.

"There's no time to feel sorry for yourself. You need to pick up results and thankfully we did that today. It was fun to be out there.”

Manchester United has not won a trophy in the last five years and Erik ten Hag insisted he will take the Carabao Cup seriously this season. Rashford believes winning this trophy will give them more belief.

“We're in every tournament to try and win it. This is definitely a good one to win,"

he stated.

“Winning this trophy early in the season in February can push you on to achieve more in the season."
