Chiellini: "Serie A clubs should follow Juve and build second teams"

Taking the Gaetano Scirea award for his charity activity in the Golden Boy award, the former Juventus captain urged Serie A sides to hand more budget for the development of youngsters as he encourages them to follow Juventus' example.

Taking the

Gaetano Scirea

award for his charity activity with the NGO he founded, the Los Angeles FC star praised Juventus youngster

Fabio Miretti

as he urged Serie A clubs to build infrastructure for later generations.

I think Fabio mirrors what has been done by Juventus [at a youth level], I texted him a few weeks ago when there were a few problems

,” said

Chiellini

.

“I am happy for him, he deserves all he is receiving. I hope other clubs will follow this project. Unfortunately, they haven’t done it so far, but I see that young players who deserve it are being launched.”

Playing in Serie C since 2018,

Juventus

registered their U23 squad as "NextGen", as it proved to be a crucial step for the Bianconeri youngsters to achieve first-minute game time. Fabio Miretti, who was one of the players awarded in Turin, is the perfect example of Juve's new system, as he won his senior debut in May 2022.
