Champions League round of 16 draw: Liverpool v Real Madrid, PSG v Bayern

The draw for the 2022/23 Champions League Round of 16 took place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday 7 November 2022.

Defending champions

Real Madrid

will play last year's finalist Liverpool in the

Champions League

last 16 after the draw for the knockout stages took place. These two teams also faced each other in the 2019 final.

Paris Saint-Germain who finished second in their group, will face

Bayern Munich

in another standout tie of the round. Milan will face Antonio Conte's side, Tottenham, and Chelsea will play Dortmund.

The first legs will be spread out across 14, 15, 21 and 22 February, with the second legs on 7, 8, 14 and 15 March.

The final will be played at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

Brugge - Benfica

Liverpool - Real Madrid

Milan - Tottenham

Eintracht Frankfurt - Napoli

Dortmund - Chelsea

Inter - Porto

Paris Saint Germain - Bayern Munich

In this round, clubs are not eligible to compete against opponents from their own league or teams they faced during the group stage.

The away goals rule has been removed so ties level after 180 minutes will go to extra time. If the teams still cannot be separated after the additional 30 minutes, then it goes to a penalty shootout.

England along with Germany is the best represented country in the last 16 with four sides. Only three Italian sides have made it this far. On the other hand, Portugal has two sides left, while Spain has only one.
