Barcelona are monitoring the situation of Villarreal's Nicolas Jackson

Barcelona have set their sights on signing Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson, who will be a free agent next summer.

The Senegalese forward, Nicolas Jackson, has been a key figure for

Villarreal

this season, and Mundo Deportivo reports that

Barcelona

is monitoring his situation, as his contract will expire at the end of the season and also has a £27million release clause.

Barcelona is considering signing Jackson in the January transfer window for a lower price or offering the player and his representatives a pre-contractual agreement.

Everton and Aston Villa also reportedly are interested in signing Jackson. Unai Emery left Villarreal last week and joined Aston Villa and could play a role in bringing Jackson to Villa.

The 21-year-old

Jackson

has played in 11 matches this season and has started in 8 League matches. He has scored two goals and provided three assists this season. Jackson joined Villarreal’s B team in 2020 and joined the senior side last summer.

Villarreal is in eighth place on the table with 18 points. They will face Lech Poznan in the Europe Conference League on Thursday and then will play against Mallorca next week.

Jackson's best position is the right wing, but he can play a wide variety of attacking roles. The great player is likely to play for Senegal in the World Cup, where his team will face the hosts Qatar, the Netherlands, and Ecuador.
