Atletico Madrid edge past Athletic Bilbao with Griezmann strike

 Bilbao had a good chance to equalize in the 84th minute after De Marcos picked out Garcia at the far post. He nods it across the six-yard box, looking for Vesga who would have a tap-in but the Atletico goalkeeper tipped it away from him.

Bilbao was awarded a penalty after the ball hit Reinildo in the 88th minute but the referee after a look at the replays changed his mind and the penalty was overturned.

Atletico is in third place in the table with 19 points after nine games. Bilbao slipped to fourth place with 17 points. Barcelona and Real Madrid who both have 22 points will face each other in the

Clasico

at the Bernabeu on Sunday.
