Racism is “madness”, Ferdinand offers supports to Richarlison

The ex-Red Devils defender shared his view on the racist incident that took place during Brazil’s battle against Tunisia.

Rio Ferdinand

believes racism that happens in football world is at a point of “madness” and it sends a terrible message to the younger viewers and fans.

"I'm not saying football can change or cure racism because I would be an idiot to think that," 

Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.

"But when you've got your own kids waking up and saying: 'Dad, have you seen that banana thrown on the pitch at Richarlison?' It's madness."

The former

Manchester United

defender also added that it was “mad and crazy” the fact that Richarlison dribbled in the battle against Nottingham Forest came to be more important to people that the racism he was subjected to this week.

He asked the authorities to take action and fight with racism after Richarlison had to deal with a banana being thrown his way when he found the back of the net for his side’s friendly victory over Tunisia on Tuesday. Ferdinand offered his support to the striker, who believes racism will continue everyday unless there is a sufficient punishment in place.

player, who asked for the abusers to be punished, will get prepared for a battle against Arsenal with his side on Saturday.
