Maignan among the top six to 10 keepers - Milan legend Dida

The Rossoneri legend believes 27-year-old Mike Maignan is one of the ‘top six to 10 goalkeepers in the world’; however, thinks the Frenchman was ‘lacking the basics’ when he joined from LOSC.

Mike Maignan

made a move to

Milan

last summer for a deal worth €14.4m and became a crucial part of helping his side win the

Serie A

title last season as he pulled off some amazing saves. He sustained a calf strain injury during France’s performance in the Nations League which kept him out for a month.

Nelson Dida, the Milan legend, was a legend under Carlo Ancelotti and came back to the club to be their goalkeeping coach in 2020.

“I’d put Maignan among the top six to 10 goalkeepers in the world right now, but he is improving all the time,”

Dida told MilanNews.it when a new documentary into the Ancelotti era was introduced.

“I taught him what I had learned. Coming to Milan means taking on a big responsibility. He was lacking the basics in terms of technique, so he is improving every day in that respect.”

The name of the documentary is ‘Stavamo Bene Insieme’, which means ‘we were good together.’
