Atletico president pledges his support to Real Madrid's Vinicius

A senior agent in Spain, Pedro Bravo, caused a lot of controversies last week when he claimed Vinicius' goal celebration is like "playing the monkey". Atletico Madrid's president pledges his support to Vinicius Junior ahead of their Sunday Madrid derby.

The head of the Spanish football agents,

Pedro Bravo

, recently made a statement on the TV show El Chiringito, claiming

Vinicius Junior'

s goal celebration is a lack of respect to the opponents. He said: “

You have to respect your opponents. When you score a goal, if you want to dance Samba, you should go to the sambodromo in Brazil. You have to respect your mates and stop playing the monkey.”

After these words were published, many reactions were directed at Bravo for racism. Ahead of

Atletico’s

crucial Sunday derby against

Real Madrid,

the Rojibloncos’ president offered his support to the 22-year-old as he urged a collective show of "respect".

Enrique Cerezo

told

Marca

:

"I'm going to ask Vinicius to teach me how to dance samba for when I have to go to Brazil in the next festivals in Rio!

"What we have to do is make sure that if Vinicius does score any goal today and if he wants to celebrate it, he celebrates it in a correct way and with respect for all the public in front of him.

"The players manifest themselves as they want, the only thing there has to be is respect for the people who are on a field that is not theirs."

Los Blancos

will bid to maintain their perfect start to the 2022-23 season when they face their local rivals on Sunday while

Atletico

tries to bounce back from a slow start of the season.
