Shoulder injury puts Kalvin Phillips' World Cup in doubt for England
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is set to undergo surgery on his shoulder just two months before the World Cup.

Kalvin Phillipshas withdrawn from
Englandsquad for the Nations League matches with Italy and Germany due to persistent shoulder problems.
If Man City and Phillips decide that he should undergo surgery on his shoulder he could miss out on the World Cup which starts in November.
Phillips came on as a substitute against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night but was absent against Wolves on Saturday. He reportedly aggravated his shoulder problem in training on Thursday and now faces surgery and a race against time to be fit for the World Cup.
The 26-year-old Phillips joined Man City from Leeds United this summer for around £42million but has only played 14 minutes this season due to his shoulder problem.
Phillips was a key player for England in Euro 2020 and played in the final against Italy. He later was named England's player of the year in 2021 and his likely absence would be a major blow for the three lions in Qatar.
England will travel to Milan to face Italy on Friday before they face Germany at Wembley Stadium on Monday. England currently sits bottom of Nations League A Group 3.
Gareth Southgate will announce his provisional squad for the World Cup on October 21.
