Barcelona's match with Cadiz stopped due to medical emergency in crowd

Barcelona's match with Cadiz in the La Liga was stopped for a concerning medical emergency at Estadio Nuevo Marindilla on Saturday.

on Saturday evening was stopped due to a medical emergency in the crowd.

A fan fell ill just after the 80-minute mark at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla. According to some reports, the supporter suffered a heart attack and needed urgent medical attention.

 

Cadiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma rushed to the side of the pitch to retrieve some medical equipment. He then rushed to and then chucked it into the stand.

Players were waiting for around 20 minutes before they were told to leave the pitch and head back to their dressing room.

The score was 2-0 to Barcelona before the stoppage. Frenkie De Jong scored the opening goal and

Robert Lewandowski

who started the game on the bench scored the second goal.

A short statement from Barca read:

"The game has been stopped due to a medical emergency with a fan in the stands. The players are going to the locker rooms."
