Barcelona target Foyth could be out for two months

Barcelona target Juan Foyth will be out of action for a while with a knee injury.

Villarreal

has confirmed that

Juan Foyth

will be sidelined by a knee injury that he suffered during a goalless draw at Getafe on Sunday. Former Tottenham Hotspur right-back reportedly could be out for two months.

Barcelona

was interested in signing the 24-year-old Foyth but they failed to reach an agreement with Villarreal and now his transfer is unlikely.

Villarreal said in a statement on Monday:

"Medical tests have confirmed that Juan Foyth suffered a post-traumatic contusion in left knee in last Sunday's match against Getafe CF at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

"The recovery time of the player will depend on how he reacts to treatment. Villarreal CF would like to send the Argentine defender best wishes and hopes to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Sergino Dest is not in Xavi’s plans for this season and Barcelona is looking to sign a right-back and then have been linked with Cesar Azpilicueta, Thomas Meunier, Vanderson de Oliveira Campos, and Hector Bellerin. Foyth was Barcelona's top target but now they have to look for alternatives.
