Wolves boss unhappy with VAR as Schar escapes red in Newcastle draw

A late equalizer from Allan Saint-Maximin canceled Ruben Neves's 38th-minute goal as both sides settled on a 1-1 draw in an eventful evening on Sunday.

However, the Wolves felt aggrieved that they were not awarded a penalty in addition to having a

Raul Jimenez

goal ruled out by VAR, a goal that could double their advantage before

Allan Saint-Maximin

’s wondergoal in the stoppage time.

In addition to all of that, a violent challenge from

Newcastle United

’s Fabian Schar on

Pedro Neto

was the main center of the Wolves boss' post-match interview.

Bruno Lage

told

Sky Sports

:

"Ninety percent of the people after watching the image would say it's a red card. But the referee and the VAR take another decision. It should be a red card in my opinion."

Ruben Neves

added:

"At the end it is details. Maybe a detail when Neto almost broke his leg and the ref didn't run to the screen, that is one detail. Another detail is we score a second goal and the ref run to the screen. A lot of meetings before the season starts every-time, but then when you see our player almost breaking their leg from that tackle, and the ref doesn't go to the screen, we ask why we do so many meetings."

With 2 points out of their 4 opening Premier League matches, Wolverhampton Wanderers will next face

Bournemouth

on August 31.
