FA investigates Tuchel’s comments about referee Taylor

The Blues boss is being investigated by the FA for the criticism he made about referee Anthony Taylor after the battle against Tottenham on Sunday.

Thomas Tuchel

commented on referee

Anthony Taylor

after

Chelsea

’s draw with

Tottenham

and it is being investigated by the Football Association.

The Chelsea manager was not pleased with the decisions Taylor made and he believed that Spurs’ first goal should have been ruled out as offside. Moreover, he was more furious about Tottenham’s second equalizer because of two incidents.

First, he thinks Rodrigo Bentancur fouled on Kai Havertz in the build-up that resulted in Harry Kane’s goal in the stoppage time. Second, Cristian Romero was not penalized for pulling Marc Cucurella to the ground by his hair.

Tuchel and Antonio Conte were furious at one another, which resulted in both of them being shown red cards.

This was a particular bone of contention for Tuchel, who sarcastically said: "

I cannot coach but the referee can whistle the next game? Good."

The Blues supporters expressed their dissatisfaction with Taylor before, with Tuchel added more when he was quizzed about the fans’ concerns, as he said:

"The whole dressing room of us, every person thinks that."

He was then pushed on if the players are concerned when Taylor is the official in charge, and he added:

"Yeah, of course."

Tuchel’s comments are being investigated by the FA, which means there might be disciplinary action coming. They will investigate whether Tuchel has brought the match into “disrepute” by implying that the referee is biased.
