Pioli hails the "strong and ready Milan” ahead of Udinese opener

Milan won their first Serie A title in 11 years last season following a close title race with their arch-rivals, Inter. Discussing the new Serie A campaign, the Rossoneri boss hails the "strong Milan" as he claims his side is ready for the new campaign.

Stefano Pioli

became the first Rossoneri manager to deliver the Serie A title since Massimiliano Allegri in 2010-11 as the 2021-22 Serie A title race remained undecided till the final match of the season. This season's Serie A campaign begins on Saturday with the reigning Champions hosting

Udinese

at the Stadio Meazza.

The

Milan

boss told his pre-match conference:

“It’s a strong Milan, but the pitch will determine whether we are better or worse than last season. I’ve seen the same spirit as the last season, it makes me be positive because I see improvements.

“The new signings in attack, Divock [Origi], Charles [De Ketelaere] and Yacine [Adli] give me positive feelings. They have interesting characteristics and we have completed the department.

“Everyone is available tomorrow, except Tonali. Origi seems a complete striker, he can attack the space and link up with his teammates. He is very smart, like  Adli ande De Ketelaere. They need time to adapt, but I am happy with what they are showing.”

Pioli revealed Milan’s summer signing,

Charles De Ketelaere

, who joined the club from

Club Brugge,

will start his new side’s opening game on the bench. The Italian coach explained:

“If Brahim [Diaz] plays, it’s because I think he is better than the others for this game.

“He has more rhythm than the others at this moment. Charles has had a particular pre-season for the reasons we all know.”
