Barcelona keen on offloading Braithwaite and Umtiti

The Blaugrana are keen on cashing in on Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite since they want to earn some fund after spending a lot of cash.

Joan Laporta

, the

Barcelona

president, has announced that the club are considering cashing in on

Samuel Umtiti

and

Martin Braithwaite

before the close of the transfer window.

The La Liga side have had a busy transfer market, penning contracts with Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, with Marcos Alonso from

Chelsea

being next on their wish list.

Last season, Barca were not able to keep Lionel Messi due to the financial problems they had and La Liga may not allow them to register their new recruits as there is a limit on spending.

Laporta said that he does not think there would be any problems as they signed a sponsorship deal with Spotify and sold some part of the La Liga broadcast rights.

Barca are keen on reducing their wage bill by cashing in on some players. The new season starts on Saturday against Rayo Vallecano, with Barca eager to sign their new additions. Although Laporta is confident this will happen, there is a lot to be done.

Before the pre-season game against

Pumas

on Sunday, Laporta said that Umtiti and Braithwaite have been told that the club did not include them in their plans.

"Umtiti and Braithwaite have a contract, but they have understood that the coach does not count on them and that the best thing for them is to leave,"

he told ESport3.

Laporta added: "

We are awaiting some more dismissals, but with the operations we have carried out we understand that we will be able to register all signings and renewed players."

Frenkie de Jong has also been linked with an exit but the club do not plan on selling him.

"Frenkie de Jong is a Barca player. He has offers, but he wants to stay, and we want him to stay,"

he added.
