Pioli rules out Leao’s rumors demanding two new signings from Milan
Playing a big part in the Rossoneri's first Serie A title triumph for 11 years last season registering 14 goals and providing 10 assists, the Portugal winger's contract is due to expire in two years, seeing him linked with a big money move to Real Madrid.
However, the Milan boss is sure the 23-year-old will take his game to another level as he has no concerns about
Rafael Leao's future.
He told
La Gazzetta dello Sport:<em>
"I am not at all worried by contractual events, you can see that he is happy to be with us."
"He has many goals in his legs, even more than last year. He has grown a lot without the ball, now he has to be able to occupy the area better."
Milan signed Club Brugge's attacking midfielder,
Charles De Ketelaere, for €36million this summer. De Ketelaere scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists for Brugge last season and was dubbed
‘the next Kevin De Bruyne’
by the Belgian media
.
Pioli
is excited by the potential De Ketelaere possesses. He continued, praising the youngster:
"De Ketelaere in perspective, in two or three years, can become a top European player.”
Despite the addition of the Belgian midfielder,
the Rossoneriboss is eager to strengthen his squad further as Milan prepares to defend the Serie A title this season.
"
On paper, two roles are missing, the defender and the midfielder,"
Pioli
said.
"We need two characteristics: explosiveness and intelligence."
