Juventus delt injury blow as McKennie sustains shoulder problem

The UMSNT international is going to miss the start of the new season after he suffered a setback back in training.

received an injury blow as

Weston McKennie

is going to miss the beginning of the 2022-23 season due to a shoulder problem. The 23-year-old sustained a separated shoulder in training and might be out of action for a month until he recovers.

The midfield of the club is already short of staff, with

Paulo Pogba

also out of action as he recovers from a damaged meniscus, for which he made need a surgery.

The UMSNT international had already not featured in the Bianconeri’s friendly games with Chivas and

Barcelona

, but they were hoping he would come back for Saturday for Real Madrid.

However, McKennie suffered a shoulder injury and did not play in the game, which resulted in a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid.

McKennie did not play in the second half of the previous season due to a metatarsal fracture, coming back on the final day of the season in a short cameo climbing off the bench.

However, the Bianconeri have not yet provide an update on his injury but he will be out for a month or so.

McKennie’s injury happened at a time he was reportedly linked with a move to Tottenham. Allegri, however, insister that he would remain put.

“McKennie is a very important Juventus player who unfortunately suffered an injury,"

Allegri said.

"He will stay at Juve."

Moreover, the player himself insisted that he is happy in Turin.

Speaking to

GOAL

, the player himself also underlined his happiness in Turin.

"That's one of the biggest things as an athlete and as a player: you want to be where you're wanted, where you're valued,"

McKennie said after Allegri's comments.

"I've seen things that I didn't even know about, that I see on the transfer rumors. It's stuff that I'm like, 'Oh, wow. I've never heard of that' and, obviously, it's very hard to ignore. You're gonna see it eventually. You're gonna see it at some point."
