Villareal close to sign Lo Celso on a permanent deal
The Argentinian midfielder will leave the Premier League permanently and head to LaLiga.
The Argentinian midfielder was left out of Tottenham's pre-season list last month in order to prepare the conditions for his departure from North London. The 26-year-old joined Villarreal in January and has become one of the key players in Unai Emery's side in the second half of the season. They were able to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League, but failed to reach the final after losing to Liverpool.
The two clubs have started negotiations and since Antonio Conte, the head coach of Tottenham, has no place for Lo Celso in his squad with the signing of Ives Bissuma, he has put pressure on the club to finalize the transfer.
According to The Athletic, Spurs have reached an agreement with Villarreal to finalize the transfer for less than 30 million euros.
Villarreal is expected to go for Sergio Reguilon and compete with Barca for this transfer as they continue to complete their squad. Regillon, who was introduced to football from Real Madrid and currently plays for Tottenham, is on the verge of leaving the club.
