Navas is not PSG's first-choice goalkeeper, says Galtier

Keylor Navas has been told by Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier that he will be the second-choice goalkeeper next season.

Christophe Galtier who replaced Mauricio Pochettino as

PSG

manager has decided to make Gianluigi Donnarumma his number one goalkeeper for next season and has informed

Donnarumma

and

Navas

of his decision.

Galtier says he can understand the frustration of the former Real Madrid goalkeeper but he expects that Navas to give his all for the club.

"I was very clear with the goalkeepers at the start of the season, I prefer to operate with a hierarchy at the start of the season,"

he said after his side beat Urama Red Diamonds in a pre-season friendly.

"He knows what I expect of him in his role as number two. Even if I know that deep inside him there is a lot of frustration. For a club like PSG, it is very important to have two very good goalkeepers.”

Navas who joined PSG in 2019, last season played in 21 Ligue 1 matches. Meanwhile, Italy international Donnarumma who joined PSG last summer just played in 17 Ligue 1 matches and at the end of the season said he wants to be the number one goalkeeper.

He said in April:

"I'm here to be the owner [of the No.1 shirt]... I have an excellent relationship with Navas but, as he also said, it was not easy to experience this competition. Things certainly have to change."
