Georginio Wijnaldum to end his PSG misery by a loan move to Roma

The Dutch midfielder opted to sign for PSG instead of Barcelona last summer as his contract with Liverpool expired, and after an unsuccessful season with the Parisians, the midfielder is reportedly close to a loan move to Roma with an obligation to buy him permanently.

It’s been reported earlier that the former Liverpool midfielder,

Georginio Wijnaldum

, has officially informed his club that he’s ready to forget his disastrous Paris Saint-Germain career by joining Roma on loan. Now, according to

Goal

, Roma is close to signing Georginio Wijnaldum from Paris Saint-Germain this weekend as the Giallorossi are working on a one-year loan deal for Wijnaldum that will include an obligation for the Roman club to buy the midfielder at the end of the season for a fee between €10m and €15m.

Roma

is unable to pay his full €9m salary at PSG as the Ligue 1 outfit will pay half of his salary for the duration of the season. Besides that, the Italian club could save money if they sign the Dutch midfielder on a long-term deal due to the special Decreto Crescita rule in Italy, which allows them to pay less in taxes on contracts that run for two or more years worth more than €1m per year.

Despite having a disappointing debut season at

Paris Saint-Germain

, Wijnaldum contributed three goals and three assists for the Parisians through his 38 competitive appearances. After signing Paulo Dybala and Nemanja Matic as free transfers this summer, the former Liverpool midfielder could be a great boost for the Giallorossi.
