Leon Goretzka to miss Bayern's pre-season tour after knee surgery

Leon Goretzka will miss Bayern Munich's pre-season tour after undergoing surgery.

Bayern Munich

has confirmed

Leon Goretzka

will miss the pre-season tour of the United States after undergoing surgery on his knee.

A brief statement read:

“FC Bayern will be missing Leon Goretzka on the Audi Summer Tour 2022 in the USA. The FC Bayern medical unit diagnosed an abnormality in the Germany international's left knee, which was removed arthroscopically today (Monday). The operation went according to plan and was completed successfully.”

Goretzka reportedly will be out of action for around two months and therefore will miss the early part of the 2022-23 Bundesliga season. The 27-year-old midfielder last season only managed 19 Bundesliga appearances due to an issue with his left knee.

Bayern will play with D.C. United and

Manchester City

during the pre-season tour. Julian Nagelsmann’s side will face RB Leipzig on July 30 in the DFL-Supercup final.

Bayern Munich so far has signed Ryan Gravenberch, Sadio Mane, and Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax this summer. The German champions are also on the verge of signing Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus for €80 million.

Bayern sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona on Saturday for a fee that could reach €50m.
