Official: Raphinha joins Barcelona from Leeds United for £55m

After missing his side's pre-season tour of Australia to push for a move to the Blaugrana, Raphinha is reportedly closing in on a deal worth £55m to join Barcelona.

Raphinha had long been waiting for a move to

Barcelona

but offers from Chelsea and other Premier League sides stalled his move, especially with the financial situation Barcelona has been dealing with. However, after long negotiations, the club has officially announced the signing of the Brazilian winger from Leeds United.

It’s been reported earlier that Raphinha went to Spain to do his medical on Wednesday after Barcelona said that an agreement had been reached to sign him for a fee of £55m as the club also announced the contract renewal of Ousmane Dembele.

Raphinha said: "

It's a dream come true since I was a kid, and of my family as well. I'm going to give my best

."

Barcelona has been host to many great names in Brazilian football, like Ronaldinho, and Neymar, who became the most expensive player in history when he made a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Leeds United

paid £16m for Raphinha when they signed him from Rennes in 2020 and scored 17 goals and contributed 12 assists across two seasons.

So far this summer Leeds has signed Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson, Darko Gyabi, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, and Luis Sinisterra. They are reportedly still in the market for a striker and a midfielder.
