Solskjaer told Haaland he has joined "the wrong side of Manchester"

Manchester City will put their faith in penalty box predator Haaland in the new campaign as they signed Erling Haaland for a reported £62 million deal from Dortmund this summer. The former Man United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, offered his support to his fellow Norwegian.

Managing Haaland for two years at Molde before returning to Manchester United in 2018, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offered his support to Erling Haaland after his compatriot joined

Manchester City

. The 21-year-old striker revealed that his former manager offered support upon his arrival at Etihad.

"

When I signed with City he congratulated me and wrote to me 'good luck on going to the wrong side of Manchester',"

Haaland told the

Manchester Evening News

.

"We talk sometimes. As you know, he had a huge impact on my career when I was at Molde. He's a good guy."

The Norway international scored 29 goals in 30 games for Dortmund last season, recording a rate of one goal every 3.6 attempts as the striker is eager to continue his form with his new club. Keeping love in his heart for his idol Sergio Aguero,

Erling Haaland

is ready to follow in the Argentine’s footsteps.

"Three years ago City didn't want me because they had [Sergio] Aguero up front so then there was no choice about coming to Man City,"

he added

.

"Basically, my feeling was I felt more going to the other place than coming here to England. I could have come here a lot of times in my career but I felt the other place and I think it was a really good choice.

"I have made perfect choices ever since I went to Molde, then Salzburg and Dortmund. I'm not complaining about that."

Manchester City will open their Premier League campaign at West Ham on August 7, with Haaland eager to taste his first Premier League action.
