Luka Jovic left Real Madrid for Fiorentina as free agent

The Serbian striker left Real Madrid as a free agent in an unusual contract.

Fiorentina

have confirmed that

Real Madrid

striker

Luka Jovic

has joined the club on a two-year deal.

After shining in Eintracht Frankfurt, Jovic joined Real Madrid in 2019 for 60 million euros, but he could not repeat his good performance in Santiago Bernabeu. The Serbian star scored only 2 goals in 27 games for Real Madrid in his first season and spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan in Frankfurt. He also had a poor performance in his return to Madrid and scored only 1 goal in 19 games for his team in La Liga and Champions League.

Now Real Madrid has finally ended his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and in an unusual deal, sent him to Fiorentina as a free agent and will continue to pay half of his salary for the next two years. At the end of his contract with Fiorentina in 2024, the Italian club can recruit him again as a free agent, but if he is sold, a percentage of the amount will go to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid's statement reads:

"Real Madrid C. F. and ACF Fiorentina have agreed a deal for the transfer of Luka Jovic.

"Our club would like to express its gratitude for his work and dedication during his time at Real Madrid, where he has won one Champions League, two LaLiga titles and two Spanish Super Cups.

"Real Madrid wishes him and his family all the best in this new period of his life."
