Newcastle in contact with Everton for Anthony Gordon

Newcastle United have negotiated with Everton for signing Anthony Gordon.

Newcastle

are keen on signing a midfielder to their team in the summer and have been eying

Anthony Gordon

as a target.

As per reports from

Sky Sports News

, no official bid was made, but a source says that the two parties have been negotiating.

Reports claim that a contract for the England U21 international, who met the back of the net four times and contributed three assists last season, may have a price tag of £35m.

Tottenham

were eager to have a double signing from Everton that would include Gordon and Richarlison, finally settling for the £60m deal for the Brazilian since the Toffees resisted their advances.

Newcastle United kept their interest in Moussa Diaby, the Bayer Leverkusen winger.

Diaby is among the attacking players that the club are considering for the summer transfer window.

There seems to be a gap between the asking price and the offer for the 22-year-old. Newcastle are still open to signing Reims striker Hugo Ekitike; however, they are now focusing on other targets following an impasse they hit in talking with the Ligue 1 side.

Oscar Garcia, the Reims manager, says Ekitike wants to remain put at the club.
