Tottenham may loan Barcelona’s Lenglet for their CB search
As they head into the offseason and you would like to know what the Tottenham boss’ main target for recruitment is, it is left-sided center back.
Fabio Paratici
, the Managing Director of Football, has also spent a lot of his time on left-sided center back. At first, they targeted
Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni, and then their attempt to sign
RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol also failed.
However, with these two talented players being off the table, there is a little of a drop-off in talent level for the kind of player Antonio Conte is looking for, with
Tottenhamkeen on attracting young players.
That is why they are considering plan B and sealing a short-term loan for Barcelona’s
Clement Lenglet.
Lenglet might not be an ideal Tottenham signing, while Bastoni and Gvardiol are theoretically available. Conte is looking for another age profile; however, Lenglet’s strength, solid positioning, solid passing, and being able to play out of the back fits Conte’s checklist.
Furthermore, signing Lenglet would likely not be a permanent one, but rather a one-year loan. This is what Barcelona need to clear space on their salary bill.
