Carlos Vela confirms contract extension with LAFC to play with Bale

The star winger will stay in Hollywood and be a part of one of the most dangerous attacks in the MLS.

Carlos Vela

is about to sign a new contract to stay with LAFC. The Mexican star will join Gareth Bale and

Giorgio Chiellini

to make one of the most star-studded teams in

MLS

history.

Gareth Bale

himself said over the weekend that he was moving to the MLS, and LAFC confirmed it on Monday.

And Vela, who has been one of the best goal scorers in the league since he moved to the U.S., says he plans to stay with the club even though he had been thinking about leaving for a new challenge. Before LAFC's 2-0 win over the

New York Red Bulls

, he told ESPN about his contract, "It was just a matter of time."

He added, "I don't want to go home until I win a championship. This year, let's hope." The Mexican star's contract with LAFC was set to end this summer, but he will now stay with the team through the MLS season of 2023.

Vela had said before that he would be willing to leave the club he has been with since 2018. He had hinted that he might want to go back to Europe. But the 2019 MLS MVP will now be focused on the long-awaited MLS Cup as LAFC tries to put together their best team ever.

Bale and

Brian Rodriguez

, who is from Uruguay, will join Vela in the attack, and Chiellini will take over a defense that was already one of the best in the league. Chiellini and Bale will be able to play for the team starting in July. They could make their debuts on July 8 against the LA Galaxy, which is their rival team in the same city.
