Police investigating Napoli and Lille over Osimhen transfer

Victor Osimhen's transfer from Lille to Napoli is being investigated for possible fraud.

According to the Italian press, police raided

Napoli

and

Lille

offices in Naples, Rome, and France today as part of the investigation into the

Osimhen

transfer.

The 23-year-old Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 for the official €70m transfer plus €10m in bonuses fee and has scored 28 goals in 62 games for them.

Napoli paid Lille about €50m and the rest of the fee was made up of goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis and three youth team players Luigi Liguori, Claudio Manzi, and Ciro Palmieri.

The deal was the controversial cause of the value of the youth team players especially after the three players never played for Lille. The French club loaned them out to Serie C sides and later terminated their contracts.

The players later went complained that the deal had ruined their careers and both Napoli and Lille used them to bolster their financial situation.

Osimhen is contracted with Napoli until 2025 and the Serie A side has no desire to part ways with him as they look to ward off interest from other clubs, but despite this English press has linked him with teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle.
