Portugal suffer first Nations League loss against Switzerland

Portugal gave the advantage to Spain in their Nations League group as they were defeated at the hands of Switzerland.

Portugal

were defeated against

Switzerland

, enduring their first loss of the Nations league campaign when

Haris Seferovic

met the back of the net for his side in Geneva.

Switzerland lost three of their matches in the Group stage, but they netted the winner at the beginning of their game against Portugal.

Fernando Santos’ men could not level the game with Swiss goalkeeper Jonas Omlin pulling off many saves, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence also affecting the visitors.

Their lost has put them a point adrift of

Spain

in the group, while Switzerland won their first game to sit a point behind Czech Republic in the third place.

Portugal drawing their first game with Spain was fortunate, but they managed to win Switzerland and Czech Republic convincingly.

However, they lost in Geneva and gave Spain the advantage to sit top.

Portugal will have their next Nations League game in September against Czech Republic while Switzerland lock horns with Spain.
