Newcastle interested in signing Juventus defender

Newcastle United is interested in signing Juventus Turkish defender Merih Demiral this summer.

Tuttosport newspaper claims that

Newcastle

wants to sign

Merih Demiral

and the next few days will be decisive for his future.

The 24-year-old defender had a good season out on loan with Atalanta but

Juventus

is open to selling him for a figure between €40m and €50m.

Atalanta can buy him permanently for around €20m but at the moment it’s unclear they can afford to pay this money and it is also unlikely Juve will have a space for him back in their squad.

Meanwhile, Italian news outlet calciomercato.com recently claimed that Inter is considering Merih Demiral as a possible replacement for Milan Skriniar in the event that he’s sold to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to this report, Atalanta could activate the clause to buy the Demiral permanently, but then immediately re-sell him to Inter.

Demiral played in 42 games for Atalanta across all competitions last season and scored two goals.

He joined Juventus from Sassuolo in 2019 but failed to become a regular starter and just played in 32 games for the next two seasons. His contract with Juve expires in 2024
