Guendouzi hopeful to convince Saliba leave Arsenal and join Marseille

The midfielder is certain that he can persuade his teammate to stay in Ligue 1.

Matteo Guendouzi has stated that he would make every effort to persuade William Saliba to quit

Arsenal

and join

Marseille

permanently.

Last August, Saliba moved to France on loan from Arsenal and played a key part for the

Ligue 1

team, while Guendouzi also enjoyed success away from the Emirates Stadium.

Marseille finished second in the French first division and advanced to the Europa Conference League semi-finals, with the 21-year-old center-back making 52 appearances.

Guendouzi, who moved to Marseille on loan from Arsenal last year and is expected to secure a permanent move, has promised to urge his France teammate to stay at the Stade Velodrome.

He told Telefoot: "William has OM now in his heart, and I'm sure he will return to Marseille next season.

"So I will try to push him again to stay with us."

Saliba, on the other hand, stated earlier this week that he would return to Arsenal and compete for a spot in Mikel Arteta's team next season.

"I belong to Arsenal, and I still have two years there. I will be there for pre-season with Arsenal," the center-back said.

"I have played zero matches with Arsenal and I want to show them what I’m made of and have the chance to play for the supporters and for this big club.

"That depends only on me. In any case, leaving (Arsenal) like that would be a shame."
