Bale likely to return to England as Real Madrid departure confirmed

Gareth Bale's agent has confirmed that his client is leaving Real Madrid, and he has said that he could go back to England.

Gareth Bale

's contract with

Real Madrid

ends next month, and his agent,

Jonathan Barnett

, has confirmed that the winger will soon leave the Santiago Bernabeu. This could mean that Bale will return to English football.

The 32-year-old was already expected to leave Los Blancos at the end of his contract. Madrid manager

Carlo Ancelotti

said last month that Bale wanted to "finish on a high note" with the club. Madrid just won their 35th league title, but Bale had almost nothing to do with it. The former Tottenham player only played for Madrid seven times in all competitions this season, for a total of just 290 minutes.

Bale has been with Real Madrid for nine years. During that time, he has won four Champions League titles and scored three goals in the finals of the competition (one against

Atletico Madrid

in 2014 and two against Liverpool in 2018). But since he carried a flag with the words "Wales. Golf. Madrid." on it, he has gotten a lot of hate from the club's fans. After helping his national team qualify for Euro 2020, the Spanish sports newspaper Marca called him a "parasite" and told him to "get a life."

Bale is still a key player for his country. In March, he scored twice in Wales' 2-1 World Cup qualification win over Austria, which put them one win away from qualifying for the tournament in Qatar. Barnett says any decision about Bale's future will depend on the outcome of the Dragons' June play-off against either Scotland or Ukraine.

He also hinted that Bale might go back to England next season after going back on loan to Tottenham for the 2020-21 season. Barnett told the Portuguese newspaper Record, "Gareth will leave Real Madrid, but we have to see what Wales can do." "It all depends on whether Wales makes it to the World Cup. Then we'll make a decision, which could be different depending on whether Wales goes to the World Cup or not.

"Do you think he'll go back to England? I think so, but let's see what happens."

Wales

will play either Scotland or Ukraine on June 5 in Cardiff for a spot in the World Cup. If they win, they will be put in Group B with England, where they will play England.
