Juventusand hang up his boots on international football, which he believes is a "pity for everyone".
The Bianconeri star announced after their 4-2 loss to Inter in the Coppa Italia final that he plans to leave Turin when the season is over, putting an end to his 17-year spell with the club. He contributed to 20 trophies during that time.
The centre-back also revealed that he will call it quits on international duty with Italy. Reports claim that he may make a move to MLS before deciding to become a manager or a coach.
Mancini talked about Chiellini and praised the 37-year-old for his influence on Italian football.
"It is a pity for everyone because he was a great player for the national team and for Juve,"
Mancini said, as quoted by Corriere dello Sport.
"Unfortunately, time passes for everyone. He made this decision but leaving after winning the European Championship in a race like the one at Wembley is still important."

Napolistar, also confirmed that he will depart Serie A to join Toronto FC when the season is over.
The 30-year-old met the back of the net in his last game for Napoli on Sunday and became the second-highest goalscorer in the history of the club, with 122 goals. The first one on the list is Dries Mertens, who scored 148 goals. Mancini also praised Insigne for his impressive efforts for his club and country.
"He will go on to have an important experience anyway. He gave a lot to the national team and I hope he can do it again,"
the Azzurri boss added.
Since two of the most experience players are departing Serie A, Mancini thinks that they should give chances to young talents to fill the void.
"The important thing when things didn't go well is to get up,"
he continued. "
We will have games in the summer and then the Nations League restarts.
"There are several interesting youngsters in the championship but we would like more."
