Barcelona fan group plots boycott in Camp Nou

After a Europa League invasion by Frankfurt fans, a large section of Barcelona fans will boycott the game against Cadiz on Monday.

Barcelona

will face Cadiz in a

LaLiga

match on Monday, and several fans have indicated that they will boycott the game in protest of what they describe as "the biggest dishonor at our home."

The large crowds of

Eintracht Frankfurt

fans who gathered at Camp Nou on Thursday for the second game of the Europa League quarter-final infuriated many Barcelona fans.

Joan Laporta

, the club's president, said he was "ashamed" by the ticketing scenario against the Bundesliga club, which allowed tens of thousands of away fans to enter the stadium.

According to head coach Xavi, the incident is being probed internally, with Barcelona's 3-2 defeat and elimination from the competition adding to the agony. On Sunday, the

Grada d'Animacio

(Animation Stand) group, which brings a lot of color and commotion to home games, announced their boycott on Twitter.

"Last Thursday, we witnessed a day that will live in infamy at our house forever," the group said. "As FC Barcelona supporters and members, we have witnessed numerous successes and defeats on the field of play, but as a fan group, we have witnessed a social disgrace that we will never forget," it said.

According to the organization, the system allowing Frankfurt visitors to purchase tickets for the game failed Barca fans, and the mass buy-up should have been identified and blocked. The fan group also questioned whether the large number of German fans who attended surprised Barcelona or whether money was allowed to be brought in at the box office.

The game drew more than 30,000 Frankfurt fans, according to the Grada d'Animacio. The supporter group also speculated what would have happened if the visiting fans were looking for a brawl. "Who knows where we'd be right now if we had a different bunch of fans," the group added in a statement.

"Because we are very clear that as fans, we are the 12th team player, our task is simple but complicated: to set the mood and help cheer up the rest of the stadium so that we can win. However, the events of Thursday obliged us to act, as we did during the match and on other occasions, and it is for this reason, that we will be present at FC Barcelona's next match against

Cadiz

.

"As members and fans of FC Barcelona, we are convinced that we will never allow a situation remotely similar to occur again, and we ask the parties involved to remember that not everything in life is about a few million dollars, especially when we're talking about a club whose motto is more than a club.'"
