Rooney ready to manage a top team in Premier League

Former England and Man Utd captain is preparing himself to manage a team in Premier League.

Derby County

boss

Wayne Rooney

believes he can now coach at a major Premier League club.

The former

Manchester United

striker has led the Derby County since 2020 and spent a period in the team that they were in financial crisis. The former England captain had a team that was deducted 21 points due to financial debt and had limited players, but eventually managed to keep them in the league and is now 7 points away from the relegation zone.

Everton had made an offer to Wayne Rooney before choosing Frank Lampard as their new manager, but he turned down a chance to return to his former club to stay in the derby. Now the young coach claims that he has the ability to coach in big clubs.

"Everything that has happened at Derby has made me think even more that I can have a good career in management,"

Rooney told the Daily Mail.

"I believe that 100 per cent. I believe we will stay up. I think I could go into the Premier League and manage at a top club now. I have no worries about that.

"I know what my strengths are and, more importantly, I know what my weaknesses are."

"I was a bit disappointed because I saw Neil Warnock say I wouldn't get an easier job because there's no pressure. If he came in here, he'd drive in, have a look around and drive straight back out."
