Tunisia coach sacked after AFCON exit

After Tunisia's elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, the Tunisian FA has chosen to break ways with national team coach Mondher Kebaier.

Tunisia placed third in their group, four points under Mali, Mauritania, and first-timers Gambia, despite being allocated in a rather easy group.

Fortunately, the Carthage Eagles qualified for the round of 16 after being among the top four third-placed sides, and they were matched against Nigeria, the D group's topper.

The Carthage Eagles went on to defeat the Super Eagles 1-0 due to

Youssef Msakni'

s winner, securing a quarterfinal match against Burkina Faso.

The Stallions outplayed Tunisia during the 90 minutes, and Tunisia finally fell 1-0 to

Dango Ouattara

's goal.

The Tunisian FA has opted to remove their 51-year-old manager, who took over in August 2019, replacing him with his deputy and former Al Ahli Tripoli boss Jalel Kadri, following their poor season.

When Tunisia faces Mali in a two-legged playoff encounter in the last round of World Cup qualifiers next March, Kadri will face a challenging assignment in leading Tunisia to the 2022 World Cup.
