Man Utd's Ralf Rangnick set to sell key defender Dalot to Atletico

Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick may decide to offload a player before embarking on a summer buying binge.

Ralf Rangnick is considering selling right-back

Diogo Dalot

to Atletico Madrid in January, as the

LaLiga

side is anxious to find a long-term successor for Kieran Tripper.

As per Spanish publication AS, Rangnick may agree to the transfer if he is permitted to supervise a spending surge this summer. Rangnick is now serving as a temporary coach at Old Trafford, but he has made it abundantly clear of his intention to take over as permanent manager at the end of the season.

Rangnick has moved the 22-year-old into the starting eleven in recent weeks after being unimpressed by

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

's offensive flairs. If the Red Devils sell Dalot, it would be a U-turn from the German coach. Since Rangnick took over in November, Dalot has made a number of appearances for Man Utd, but he has yet to establish himself in the position.

Rangnick understands the need of finding a right-back who can explode forward and give depth to his 4-2-2-2 system while maintaining defensive solidity. So far this season, neither Wan-Bissaka nor Dalot have excelled on that front.

After losing the England international Tripper to

Newcastle

earlier this month, Roji Blancos are looking to bring an offensive right back to the Spanish capital. Diego Simeone is expected to test Utd's tenacity with a £25 million proposal this month, according to AS.
