Referee blows twice before 90th minute as Mali win against Tunisia

The Zambian official sparked outrage when he blew the full-time whistle in the 85th minute, then again whistling in before the 90th minute.

Official

Janny Sikazwe

blew the full-time whistle for Mali's 1-0 win against Tunisia before the 90th minute twice, in an unusual and contentious finale to the

AFCON

 group-stage contest.

Sikazwe, a Zambian referee, blew his whistle to signal the end of the match in the 85th minute, but play restarted after the blunder, only for Sikazwe to whistle again before the 90th minute.

The game ended after the second error, with roughly 17 seconds of regular time remaining, infuriating Tunisia's players and coaching staff, who were seeking to overcome a 1-0 disadvantage.

There was also the possibility for injury time to be counted, with VAR reviews having taken place, as well as a red card being issued and two penalties being awarded.
