Messi set to continue his post-COVID recovery and miss the Lyon clash

Lionel Messi will miss PSG's

match against Lyon on Sunday. 

Messi contracted the COVID-19 while in Argentina and therefore missed PSG's 4-0

triumph over Vannes on Monday. 

Nevertheless, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner had a negative test result on Wednesday and was expected to play against Lyon. 

But, the Ligue 1 club acknowledged on Saturday that the 34-year-old will "continue his post-COVID individual rehabilitation plan over the next few days." 

PSG also confirmed that

Angel Di Maria

,

Julian Draxler

,

Danilo Pereira

,

Layvin Kurzawa

, and

Gianluigi Donnarumma

are still in isolation following their positive tests for COVID-19.

In the meantime,

Neymar

is undergoing his recovery and is expected to be back for training in three weeks. 

Mauricio Pochettino, PSG's head coach, concedes that the club must adjust in the absence of some players but argues that every team is in the same situation. 

He stated during his pre-match press conference:

"All teams have absent players; so do we. We have to adapt to everyday life. Sometimes, we have to change our plans.

"It's the same every game, we always have to make choices. We have to put the players in the best conditions."

On the subject of playing against Peter Bosz's Lyon, he added:

"They are one of the best teams in France. 

"There is a very great coach. In the end, they will be fighting for the first places.

"It will be difficult, but we are optimistic."
